RSL: Selected in the second round (17th overall) of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft on 1/18/08
After three years at budding national power UC Santa Barbara, rookie Tino Nuñez joins former Gaucho teammates Brennan Tennelle and Kyle Reynish on the Real Salt Lake roster. Nuñez brings a wealth of experience to the Wasatch Front, having been an integral member of Santa Barbara's 2006 NCAA championship team as well as the 2004 squad that fell in the title match. While Nunez will be expected to deliver goals for the squad's Reserve Division team as he continues to develop, what set him apart in the preseason was his ability to hold and distribute the ball with his back to the net, this despite his non-traditional 5'8" "target forward" frame.
